Goodie Bag: A personal note from Editrix Jenni, about acceptance, and gratitude (11/23/2010)
Acceptance is a running theme of ChronicBabe; Jenni first wrote about it right after the launch of the site in summer 2005. What was true then is still true today: accepting that chronic illness is part of her life is challenging but necessary, and trusting her inner voice is essential. Here’s what she said then: “It would mean accepting that I already know all I need to know to take care of myself: Trust my gut. Rely on experts who I trust. Encircle myself with intelligent, supportive people...people who call me on my B.S. It would mean trusting myself. Somehow that seems scariest, the idea that I can trust myself wholly and completely to take care of myself.”
She's back there again, Babes, with a personal story to share. She hopes you'll find it inspirational and helpful.
Goodie Bag #105 - What do you believe in? We believe in you! (11/9/2010)
Editrix Jenni believes in a lot of things, including YOU. She has come through a tough flare-up and in its wake, developed a list of things to think about next time she's sick—things that will help her feel better. Plus she's got some great resources on spirituality, shopping, humor and much more!
Goodie Bag - Letter from the Editrix: Time to get organized! (10/26/2010)
Editrix Jenni is overwhelmed...and she knows she's not alone in this experience. Here, she's got some tips to help you manage email - just the first of many bits of advice designed to help you make the most of every minute.
Goodie Bag #104: Being sick can be funny! (10/12/2010)
Life with chronic illness is not all tears and sadness. Sometimes it's HILARIOUS! In this issue, we offer tons of cool places to find chronic illness humor, plus some shopping tips, information on cancer research, and much much more.
Goodie Bag: Letter from the Editrix - Handling the DOWNs and UPs of chronic illness (9/28/2010)
Editrix Jenni keeps this edition of the Goodie Bag short because she just came through a big UP followed by a big DOWN and is still in recovery mode. Sometimes we just have to prioritize to take good care of ourselves! She talks about finding balance and making sacrifices (sometimes).
Goodie Bag #103: It's Invisible Illness Week. Get visible! (9/14/2010)
Our pals at Rest Ministries do a fantastic job putting together Invisible Illness Week each year. Editrix Jenni spoke on Thursday, Sept. 16 about connecting with girlfriends. It was a fun and feisty conversation, and you can listen to the archive! Plus we have tons of other awesome support resources for you.
Goodie Bag: Letter from the Editrix - Sing and find our voice! (8/31/2010)
Once you start singing, who knows what could happen? Editrix Jenni used to be afraid to speak up and use her voice to advocate for her own needs; the idea of speaking out on behalf of others, in the face of disbelievers or critics, seemed crazy. And look where she wound up, Babes?! On TV, in newspapers and magazines, on the radio and here on the internets, raising a ruckus on behalf of ChronicBabes everywhere. You can do it, too! Even if it’s just for your own sake, sing out. Make your presence known. We can’t wait to hear your voices!
Goodie Bag #102: You're getting sleepy, very sleepy (8/17/2010)
It's time to get some ZZZZZs and Editrix Jenni has gathered a bunch of great resources to help you do just that. Plus there are links to fun shopping, worthwhile causes, and much more. Now: naptime!
Goodie Bag - Letter from the Editrix: This is your reminder: Relax. (8/3/2010)
This is your reminder: Relax. It's summer, and you should be chillin' out, at least a little. This issue of the Goodie Bag is deliberately short. Why? Because Editrix Jenni needs a break. A little downtime. So she's taking it. What does that mean for you? A short little newsletter this week. The upside: She's giving you permission to walk away from this computer right now and go take a few minutes to unwind. If you insist on sticking around, then check out her short little tips on relaxing.
