LactMed: Medications and Breastfeeding

Ever wonder if your baby will absorb your medications through breast milk? Thinking about starting or stopping a medication while breastfeeding?

You should always speak with your doctors about these questions, but in the meantime, check out LactMed, "a peer-reviewed and fully referenced database of drugs to which breastfeeding mothers may be exposed," a resource from the U.S. National Library of Medicine. Search for any medication and get information on its known effects on lactating mothers, on infant absorption rates, and possible alternative medications to consider.
