Crafty
Sometimes you just have to dig in and get creative. We look at wacky workarounds, and real crafty ideas and ladies.
"You're going to get a little competitive on this one..." - #HAWMC Day 13
It's day 13 of the WEGO Health (they're @wegohealth on Twitter) Health Activist Writer’s Month Challenge (HAWMC)*, in which they offer a blog prompt per day for a month, and this is a fun one: "Open a book to any page, and take the first line you see. That's the title of your blog post. What does your blog say?" Nice!
I grabbed Caffeine for the Creative Mind: 250 Exercises to Wake Up Your Brain by Stefan Mumaw and Wendy Lee Oldfield, and the first line I spotted on page 111 is "You're going to get a little competitive on this one."
The resulting blog is all about contests and craftiness and fun. Wouldn't you want to read that?

A poem about fibromyalgia (and cookies!) by someone who hates writing poetry - #HAWMC Day 8
We're 8 days in to the WEGO Health (they're @wegohealth on Twitter) Health Activist Writer’s Month Challenge (HAWMC)*, in which they offer a blog prompt per day for a month, and organizers are just trying to kill me. Today's prompt: Write a poem (5-15 lines) where every line is a health question.
Seriously? Another poetry prompt? Y'all are killing me over here. I already explained I hate writing poetry. Sigh. OK, well if you insist, then I'm going to give you bad poetry, I'm sorry. There's just no getting around it.

MacGyver Morrone and the little black dress
It was short. It was low cut. It was ever-so slightly slinky. It was the opening gala for the Newport Film Festival and the dress code was "a little bit dressy." Seriously, when can you go wrong with a little black dress? It always looks classy and simple and suitable for almost every occasion. I had a beautiful one from Ann Taylor in the closet. Just grab a pair of black heels, some sparkly (fake) jewelry, and slip into that dress. No problem...until I went to slip into my Something Most Comfortable: namely, my insulin pump that I wear to manage my type one diabetes.

When a ChronicBabe is also aCUTE Babe...
Sometimes, a ChronicBabe is also aCUTE Babe. You know, AcuteBabe. As in, experiencing acute symptoms of some sort. As in, your Editrix has had acute back pain for the past week. Here are a few tips for ChronicBabes who are experiencing an ACUTE situation.
We are family: Know your medical history
It's amazing what a little conversation can do. One day a few years ago I learned that I wasn't the only person in the family to have fibrocystic breasts. "Wouldn't that have been a nice thing to tell me a few years ago?"I asked my mom. This was after I had undergone a panic-attack inducing ultrasound after finding a large, rope-like lumpy area in my left breast -- only to have the test turn up nothing.
