In a world with less pain, I could...a guest post from Heather Grace
by Heather Grace, guest blogger from the American Pain Foundation
Q: In a World With Less Pain, I Could...
A: Stop feeling like everything is just TOO MUCH!
Always juggling responsibilities like dealing with the pain or the challenges of being a woman on her own, trying to care for myself & survive financially, while also not disappointing anyone.
All the while my body is at war with itself! Fighting off the searing pain, burning down the length of my spine, into my limbs, shooting through me like lightning.
It's hard for people to understand that the water from a shower and even bed sheets can cause a pain flare, that bright light and low-pitched sounds can produce intense pain, and the numbness is so overwhelming that I cannot make my hands do what I want them to, though I used to type by touch at 80+ words per minute.
Invisible to most, living with constant, severe nerve pain is a perilous journey for me... It's all I can do some days to put on a brave face. While I'd never wish one day of this life on anyone, it would be nice if everyone understood!
