Blog Carnival #26 - I'm Thankful For...
Here at ChronicBabe HQ love to hear you Babes talk about the things that inspire thankfulness in you. You know, those things that keep you going when the going gets tough. We also know that when things get really bad, it can be hard to remember what those things are, so we decided to help you reconnect with your attitude of gratitude for this edition of the blog carnival.
Most of all, we believe a regular connection to thankfulness can help us all remember how many wonderful things keep us strong and help us show others that they have just as many wonderful things in their lives that can support and nurture them too. Which is just what this collection of your posts does:
Thanks for the Adversity
In A Happy Snarksgiving to All, Headstrong with Lupus started out by creating a list of things for which she was snarkful (sarcastically thankful) for and wound up creating another list of things for which she was truly and deeply grateful. And we agree with her that a good helping of snark can be the best medicine for really bad times.
Gretchen of There Be Migraines Here talks about living with migraine pain since she was a preschooler and shares that for much of that time many people didn't believe a very young kid could have migraines. In her post The Message Has Been Heard, she gives unexpected thanks to her migraine pain for inspiring her to write My Secret, her children's read-along book about chronic pain.
"It's easy to be thankful when things are going well, but not as easy when life throws you a curve ball or two," observes Laurie of Hibernationnow. See what other revelations she has been discovering in her post I'm Thankful for... ChronicBabe Carnival.
Gratitide for Being and Becoming
Kathy of Alter Everything is sharing two blog posts with us that fit the thankfulness bill. In I Am Becoming Who I Want to Become she shares her gratitude for overcoming her resistance to eating breakfast. In A Day of Soups and Stews she offers a special prayer of thankfulness for the food that nourishes and heals her.
Carly is thankful, now that she knows her life will be okay even though illness is a part of it. Now she just wishes she could go back in time to let her younger self know that she will lead a pretty good life. Check out her heartfelt post Listography - Time Travel over to Tune Into Radio Carly.
Thanks for the Support
Candace of Infectiously Optimistic is thankful she's not the only one trying to figure out life with chronic illness. In her post The Perfectly Abnormal Condo, she shares her gratitude and thanks for her perfectly normal "abnormal" life with her new roommate Ashely who is a ChronicBabe just like her.
The Migrainista uses the practice of thankfulness to help her get through her toughest days by creating lists of positive things she can remind herself of when the going gets tough. She inspired us with her post I'm Thankful... to start doing the same.
Dana started blogging to help herself cope with her chronic illnesses. Now she is thankful for blogging because she has discovered that by helping herself she has helped others, and by helping others she ended up helping herself. She is thankful for a whole bunch of other things too, which she writes about over at I Already Gave My Right Arm To Be Ambidextrous! in her post I'm Thankful to See The Next March 29th!
Gratitide for Health Care Done Well
Sometimes thankfulness comes from finally getting a diagnosis that explains the laundry list of complaints you've been carrying around. Wendy writes about discovering the comfort that comes from understanding in her post Thankful That I Know... over at Picnic with Ants.
Over at Oh My Aches and Pains!, we saw a recent post written by Selena that sure looks like a letter of gratitude to her new doctor, who is helping her overcome a pretty big stumbling block to incorporating exercise into her self-care plan. But don't just take our word for it. Check out her post, Question of the Week: Are You Struggling with Making Changes? and see if you agree.
Feelings of thankfulness come naturally for Rachel because she has so many helpful people offering her ideas and treatment options to make make her life with chronic illness easier. Read about them all in her post I Am Thankful at her blog Tales of Rachel.
Thankfulness for God's Creatures
Some say happiness is a warm puppy. Sharon says thankfulness is having your service dog in training respond to your commands (finally!) Read A Grand Day Out: Barnum and Sharon Hit the Road over at After Gadget.
When life is difficult, it can be hard to feel thankful when your troubles are weighing you down. That's what inspired Judy of CreativitytotheMax to share this story of thankfulness from the animal kingdom in her post Can You Imagine a World Where All Beings Responded This Way?
Gratitude for the Simple Things in Life
Sweet, simple and to the point, we want to thank Sheli for letting us know the six things in her life that make her feel grateful. Find out what they are in What I'm Thankful For...
Over at Sunshine and Chaos, Maureen thinks it's the little things that help make life better on a daily basis, so she's focusing her gratitude on the small comforts in her life in I'm Thankful For The Little Things In Life.
Thank You, Always
At Phylor's Blog, she's making a point in reminding us that Thanksgiving Isn't Just a Day in November by sharing a few things she is currently and perennially feeling thankful for right now.
KD says "...thankfulness is a habit I'd like to get into..." She decided to demonstrate what she's grateful for through photographs and created this pictorial post, Pictures of Thankfulness over at FibroDAZE.
Give us some feedback...
