Essay contest: What does it mean to be a ChronicBabe?
by Jenni Prokopy, the Editrix
ChronicBabe is five years old! Five years. They flew by!
In those five years, we have grown from a teeny little blog to a massive resource, with thousands of articles, news items, interviews, links and much much more on the site. Plus we've got podcasts, a newsletter, the forum, the blog carnival, Twitter - we're all over the place! All summer long, we'll be celebrating this achievement, just like all of us should celebrate EVERY achievement!
One of the ways we're celebrating is with an essay contest. Because, after all, it's YOU who make this project awesome! So without further ado, we present:
The Essay Contest: What does it mean to be a ChronicBabe?
If you've spent any time on the site, you've heard all about why I think I'm a ChronicBabe. But I want to hear about YOUR experience: How did you come to think of yourself in that way? What helped you get there? What held you back (that you clearly conquered)? How does the ChronicBabe mindset impact your relationships? Work? Love life? Parenting? Holidays?
I want to hear all about the challenges and awesomeness that come with being a ChronicBabe. I know it's not all rainbows and kittens; I know it's super hard sometimes. But the effort pays off, we all know that; otherwise you wouldn't be here!
The rules
1. Write an original essay that hasn't appeared anywhere else.
2. Keep the length to 500 words or less.
3.Send it in the body of an email to: chronic babe @ gmail dot com.
4. Include your name as you would like it to appear if I publish the essay on the site (which I plan to do!).
5. Include your mailing address so I can send you some goodies (even if you don't win, I have a little treat to share!). *If your name on the mailing address is different from your name as you would like it to appear with the essay, please include it!
6. Send it to me by July 23, 2010. *DEADLINE EXTENDED!* Winners will be announced on July 30.
7. An essay that does not include all the stuff I just asked for won't be considered for the contest. Sorry, Babes, but like you, I'm a busy lady. I don't have time to chase you all over for your mailing address. Dig? Essays that show up late will make me smile, I'm sure, but won't be considered for the contest.
8. I'll pick five winners, and they'll each get a goodie bag of all kinds of stuff: t-shirt, buttons, bookmark, and anything else I feel like throwing in. Plus my adoration. And public recognition! And a warm feeling in their hearts.
Get writing! And tell your friends!
I would LOVE to have an overflowing In Box, stuffed with lots of essays from ChronicBabes all over the world. Please spread the word about this contest by linking to it on your blog, tweeting about it (I'm @ChronicBabe on Twitter, 'natch), sharing it on Facebook...you know the drill. Can't wait to read all your essays!
