My new favorite jewelry: WellAlarm Medical ID Bracelet

By Jenni Prokopy, the Editrix

Medical ID jewelry has never appealed to me. And luckily, I've never had an illness that really warranted me wearing any. But an asthma scare a few months ago got me thinking...

jenni's medical alert braceletSo when Stephanie Cion, creator of WellAlarm, offered to send me a free piece to try out, I went for it. I chose a beautiful silver chain bracelet with a heart pendant, and when offered the option of "with snake" I said YES. I mean, who doesn't want a snake charm on their wrist? (OK, fine, it's really a Staff of Asclepius charm, if you want to get technical.)

The piece is gorgeous. (That pic is of the actual bracelet on my wrist.) It's clear that it's a medical ID, but it's also beautiful on its own. I've gotten so many compliments on it, and I'm so used to it I never take it off.

Next to its beauty, its coolest feature is the code engraved on the back of the heart charm. It includes the website, a toll-free number emergency responders can call to get all my details, and a code that's unique to me. So if I'm in an accident or have a bad asthma attack, an EMT can call that toll-free number, type in my code, and get all my details via phone or text message. It's all part of the WellAlarm Emergency Service.

And Stephanie's story is awesome: A few years ago she became critically ill and almost died. She decided then that men and women shouldn't have to settle for ugly standard medical alert jewelry, and created her own line that includes gorgeous charms, gems, high-quality materials and terrific style.

So yea, I'm a fan. I don't endorse a lot of products, but I think WellAlarm has got a great thing going.
