Quick tips: Eating healthy for the holidays despite food-related illness

With the holidays fast approaching, I know some of you are worrying about how you'll handle traditional meals and other food-focused gatherings. To help ease your mind, I've collected some reliable resources on healthy holiday eating. If you'd like to add to the list, please shoot me an email and I'll update as necessary.

Gluten-Free Thanksgiving 2008 by the Gluten-Free Girl

Shauna James Ahern, aka the Gluten-Free Girl, has come up with a terrific list of Thanksgiving recipes for you to try. Gravy, stuffing, cranberry chutney and pumpkin pie are all winners, plus she has great tips on how to cook for folks who are gluten-free and serve the meal. And if you're looking for more nontraditional recipes, she's got them too. (And her book, Gluten-Free Girl: How I Found the Food That Loves Me Back...And How You Can Too, is a terrific guide for newbies and long-time celiacs alike.)

The Food Network has a comprehensive collection of holiday tips and recipes that will make your holiday food preparations easier. Simple recipes, advice that will save you time (and energy) and more are on tap from some of your favorite TV chefs. 

How to Survive the Holidays with chronic fatigue syndrome or fibromyalgia

Before we even get to cooking (and eating) you've got to decide how you'll manage your energy and expectations during the holidays. The experts at About.com's chronic fatigue syndrome site have 10 suggestions to help you get ready for everything about the holiday season, including mealtimes.

Cook for the Season with Weight Watchers

We're fans of the Weight Watchers approach to healthy eating, and their holiday cooking special rocks. It's chock full of healthy recipes for every winter holiday, from chocolate chip bundt cake to potato pancakes. They also have advice for preparing to host a party, and cooking crowd-pleasing healthy items from hors d'oeuvres to desserts.
