Cool Tool: The Breathe Easy Deck
by Jenni Prokopy, the Editrix
Meditation is great for all Babes, chronic or not. It helps you get more restful sleep, think more clearly, boost energy, and better handle stress. What's not to love?
Well, I love meditation and breathing exercises, but truthfully, they can get a little dull. Who wants to visualize the same darn peaceful stream over and over again? Hmm?
The Breathe Easy Deck, created by Amy Zerner and Monte Farber, helps tackle the boredom issue by offering dozens of cards, each with beautiful artwork and thoughtful mantras to recite while practicing your relaxation techniques.
<-- This is my favorite card, the one I return to over and over again. I am balanced. Who doesn't need to hear that on the busiest of days?
Each card has a simple sentence to start with. As you relax into your breathing and get into a healthy rhythm, you can start reading the mantras at the bottom of the card, concentrating on the words and relaxing as they become part of your inner dialogue.
I'm always skeptical of little tools like this, but...
I've been proven wrong. Over the past few weeks, I've tried out the deck, with real results. Three or four times a day, I retreat to the bedroom, turn off the phones, set my timer for 15 minutes, and grab the card of the day. After a few days it got easier to get into my rhythmic breathing and stick with the mantras, and I even found that during the day the messages would pop up at appropriate times, which was great.
And how do I know The Breathe Easy Deck works? Because during my trial period I also slacked off sometimes, and on those days I felt more anxious, self-doubtful, and unbalanced.
Not cool.
Medidation and breathing exercises work.
Science proves it, and millions live the results: if you take time out every day, preferably a few times a day (10 or 15 minutes), to practice your breathing and relaxation techniques, you can cut a lot of stress out of your life.
For ChronicBabes, this is key to living well. As an example, for me, the difference is huge - when I'm relaxed and focused, I can be more productive, handle flare-ups and pain better, deal with family and work stresses - in short, I can take care of myself and get the most out of every day.
Does The Breathe Easy Deck guarantee that? Nope. It's a great tool, but you have to commit to using it - and to practicing your relaxation and meditation techniques - to see real results. But even if you've never tried these techniques before, I think this product can help you get started. It has definitely become a well-loved tool over here at ChronicBabe HQ.
