Chronic Bits:
Your Editrix is convalescing
-Posted: 4/2/2012
Babes: Editrix Jenni has been super-sick, and still has laryngitis - NO VOICE with which to speak. Which is weird. For someone who loves to talk. Thanks for your patience while she heals; you'll still get a newsletter tomorrow, and things should be moving at their usual pace very soon. Hope you're AWAP (as well as possible)! XO Team ChronicBabe

A note from Editrix Jenni: When I launched this site in 2005, I made a conscious choice to keep articles closed to comments to ward off trolls—those nasty folks who just want to complain. Today, we're better equipped to handle whatever comes our way, even with a small team to handle a high volume of comments. (Honestly, most of the time it's still, well, just me!) Visit your favorite article today and leave a comment, start a conversation, and see where it takes you. We're going to give this a try; I believe the positive community we've built over the years is commited to creating awesomeness, and I'm excited about offering this new feature on the site!

Social media, clinical trials, and the convergence of community: I'm speaking about it!
In a few weeks, I'll have the pleasure of speaking at the 3rd Patient Engagement Summit, where the focus will be on using digital tools to get patients interested in participating in trials and research. Care to chime in and offer comments about your experience with online research recruitment?

Editrix Jenni got screamed at for using an accessible door by someone in a wheelchair. She reacted strongly. Was she right? How do we deal with scenarios like this? Chime in!

Celebrating Team Jenni, in honor of Valentine's Day
I've written before about the "team" concept of living with chronic illness. (It's one of the first articles I published here, nearly seven years ago!) The concept is as awesome as ever: Life with chronic illness is hard, but surrounding yourself with supportive people makes it easier. Here, I celebrate the folks I love—and hopefully give you some ideas for Team YOU!

Blog Carnival #42: The Winter Wellness and Fitness Edition
Hello ChronicBabes! It might be winter, but this year I'm fired up and determined not to let yucky weather temporarily sideline my healthy pursuits. With my goal in mind, I decided asked you: How are you approaching life differently this winter to prevent the blues, a sedentary lifestyle and the pull to just let your health priorities slide when it is cold, wet and gloomy outside?

Regular readers of the site already saw my new year's resolutions post, in which I proclaim that "self-care is #1."
The problem in winter is that I usually let that slide. (Hence this year's resolution!) But not this time. I have a few things I'm doing to get myself in shape for bikini season in a few months!
Read on to learn my personal weight loss goal for 2012 (gulp!) and what I'm doing to achieve it. And then comment so I can learn what YOU'RE doing!

Please allow me to inspire you. XO, Editrix Jenni
Let's start here: I believe in you. Each and every one of you.
Does that feel good? Let it soak in. Steep in the knowledge that someone out there really trusts that you can be successful in your endeavors. If I can lift above my struggles and thrive, I know you can too, because we're like sisters. Your struggle is my struggle.
I created a short list today of things that inspire me and keep me in fine spirits, even on the toughest days. Enjoy, and add your own in the comments for other babes to enjoy, too! XO Jenni
